The moment I realized I was doing foundation grading all backwards

I was working on a house in Calgary last summer and the drainage inspector just watched me for 20 minutes before telling me I was sloping the dirt towards the foundation instead of away. Turns out I had been compacting dirt the wrong way for like 5 years, any other contractors out there ever get a rude awakening from an inspector?

Holy crap, 5 years? That's brutal. I had a similar thing happen with a patio I did back in 2017, thought I had it perfect until the city guy pointed out the whole thing sloped toward the house by like 2 inches. Felt like a complete moron standing there with my shovel in hand.

Did you end up redoing the whole patio or just let it ride knowing it was off?
