Found a hack for leveling cabinets with playing cards...
I was trying to get my kitchen uppers level on that awful stucco wall in my 1950s house and nothing was working... ended up wedging a stack of old poker cards under one corner and it sat perfectly. Took about 15 minutes to shim everything with different card amounts. Has anyone else used something random like that instead of buying actual shims?

Buddy of mine used a stack of vinyl LPs once, worked weirdly well.

Man, I used to be one of those guys who swore by buying cedar shims by the bundle. Thought anything else was hacky. Then I had to level a counter on a wall that looked like it was built by a drunk drywaller, and I grabbed a deck of cards my kid left out. Worked like a charm. Now I keep a beat up deck in my van. Way easier to fine tune than shaving wood shims, especially if you're working solo and need both hands.
