My friend's hot take on dub vs sub wrecked my whole stance
Was chatting with my buddy Leo at a con last Saturday, he said dubbed anime feels like watching a play through a foggy window because you miss the raw voice acting. I've always been a sub elitist but he pointed out how some dubs let you actually watch the animation without reading, which I never considered. It hit different because he wasn't trying to change my mind, just explaining his own experience with a specific scene from Frieren. Now I'm rewatching stuff I wrote off years ago, has anyone else flipped sides on this after a random conversation?

Man, that's exactly what happened to me with Cowboy Bebop! I used to trash on dubs so hard, but a friend just casually mentioned how the English cast nailed the jazz vibe in a way subs couldn't capture. I was like, no way, and then I actually gave it a shot. Now I watch a bunch of stuff dubbed just to see the animation better, especially during fight scenes. It's wild how one random convo can just flip a switch you didn't even know was there.
