Rewatching the dub of an old show and noticing the script is 40% filler

Last month I finally rewatched a series I loved 3 years ago, this time in English, and I swear every other line is just someone repeating what just happened. Has anyone else gone back to a favorite and realized the translation team was padding the runtime with awkward exposition?

Ngl, it's wild how much of those old dubs is just characters telling each other stuff they already know. I went back to a show I obsessed over in high school and realized half the dialogue was basically "as you know, we are in danger" type lines. The worst part is when a character explains their own plan step by step while doing it, like the viewer is too dumb to watch. Some translation teams really just stretch a 2 minute scene into 5 by having everyone repeat the same info in different ways. Still love the show, but I can't unsee it now.
