That collector's edition Blu-ray box set I dropped $200 on for an anime I'd never seen

I bought the complete "Legend of the Galactic Heroes" box set on a whim because the packaging looked cool and now it's been sitting on my shelf for 8 months collecting dust because I can't bring myself to start a 110 episode series I know nothing about - has anyone else impulse-bought pricy anime merch they never actually used?

That 110 episode count is exactly what gets me, I bought the same box set and I've only made it through the first three episodes in six months. The packaging really is something else though, that slipcase with the gold foil is probably why I still keep it on my shelf. Do you actually plan to ever watch it, or have you made peace with just having it for decoration?

Man that's such a relatable thing. It's like we convince ourselves buying the thing is the same as actually experiencing it, you know? I do this with cookbooks all the time. I'll see a pretty one at the store and think "oh yeah I'm gonna make everything in here" and then it just sits on my coffee table looking nice. At least with yours it's a whole 110 episodes so you can pretend you're saving it for a rainy day that never comes. Maybe it's just me but I feel like we all do this with stuff we think we should like instead of stuff we actually want to do.
