A scary moment with my fridge repair taught me to check circuits twice.

I was replacing a compressor in my fridge during a garage cleanup. I turned off the main breaker, but missed the separate fridge line. My hand brushed a live terminal and I got a sharp shock. Always test with a voltage tester before touching any wires. This quick check can keep you safe on every job.

Wait they wired the fridge on its own circuit? That's a nasty surprise right there.

Ugh, tell me about it oliverknight! Who even thinks to check that first? We moved into our place last year and found the same weird setup. Everything in the kitchen went dead one day but the fridge kept humming along. It took me forever to find the right breaker because it was labeled "utility" in the basement. Now I have to remember this random separate switch just for one appliance.

Our old apartment had the fridge on a GFCI outlet next to the sink. It tripped once and ruined a whole load of groceries. I guess they do that separate circuit thing to stop one fault from killing your whole kitchen.
