Found my first complete artifact after months of digging
It was a small clay pot, about 4 inches tall. I was working on a site in New Mexico last Tuesday. I had been sifting dirt for hours with no luck. Then my trowel hit something solid and round. Carefully brushed the dirt away and there it was, fully intact. Has anyone else had that moment where you finally find something whole?

That first solid hit is pure magic.

It's that split second of quiet right after. The crack echoes and then there's just the ball flying, no sound at all for a beat. You see it in baseball with a perfect line drive, or even in golf when you pure an iron. The noise stops, and for a moment, all you're doing is watching it go exactly where you wanted. That silent flight is the real payoff.
