Spent $450 on a ground penetrating radar rental for a dig site and it showed a clear void, but some say it's a waste versus old school test pits.
I'm arguing the tech saved us weeks of digging in the wrong spot, while my partner says the cost wasn't justified for what might just be an old animal burrow.

Seriously? How much would paying a crew for those extra weeks of digging have cost instead? The rental fee probably saved you money in the long run. Sounds like a smart move to me.

That $1200 rental only looks good if the ground was exactly as expected. My buddy rented one and hit ledge day one, spent the whole week wrestling with a demo hammer attachment instead of digging, then had to bring in a crew anyway to finish the job.

Exactly. We rented a mini excavator for a foundation job last year. The rental was $1200 for the week. Paying two guys to hand dig that rocky soil would have taken three weeks and cost over $5000 in labor. The machine had it done in two days.
