Unpopular opinion: people keep calling that new Roman fort in York a 'castle' and it's messing with the timeline.
It's a 2nd-century auxiliary fort, not a medieval structure, and mixing them up makes it harder to understand the actual military shift in Britain after the legions left.

That fort by the river is clearly Roman layout. Calling it a castle just confuses people about what happened when the army pulled out. It makes the Dark Ages way harder to explain.
