Serious question, who else got burned by a shady mechanic?

Last month I took my 2012 Honda to Mike's Auto Shop on Elm Street for a simple oil change and they tried to charge me $450 for a 'transmission fluid flush' I didn't need. My buddy who actually knows cars looked at the receipt and said the fluid was clean as new. Has anyone else dealt with a shop pulling that crap?

My buddy Tom took his old Ford Focus to a place called Speedy Lube on 5th Avenue. They told him he needed a new air filter, cabin filter, and some fuel injector cleaning for $380. Tom was like fine whatever just do it. Later he found out the air filter they charged him for was literally the same one he had just put in two weeks before, he even had the receipt in his glove box. The fuel injector cleaning was just them pouring a $5 bottle of additive in his gas tank. He went back and raised hell but they basically laughed at him and said you approved the work.

Feel for your buddy Tom. That's just straight up robbery with a smile. Hope he left a nasty review so other people don't get taken for a ride there too.
