Can we talk about using a heat gun on plastic clips?

I spent 45 minutes fighting a bumper clip on a 2018 Honda Civic this morning, then tried warming it with my heat gun for 10 seconds and it popped right out... normally I just pry and hope, but that little trick saved my knuckles. Has anyone else found a better timing or tool for stubborn clips without melting the paint?
