Just wasted $200 on a cheap paint mixing system
Bought one of those budget paint shakers off Amazon to save money... thing broke after three cars, gears stripped out completely. Took the hit and got a higher end model for $450, but now I'm wondering if anyone else has had luck with a middle ground option around $300?

Honestly, $200 for a paint shaker is kinda in that weird zone where you're paying more for a name brand than actual quality. I've seen a few guys at the local shop running those $150 harbor freight ones for a year now with no issues, so maybe check if you got a dud. Tbh, the $450 model might actually save you money in the long run if it lasts longer than a few months. Ngl, I skipped the middle ground and went straight for a used commercial one off Craigslist for $200, and it's been solid for six months now.

Wow, that's a really good point. I used to be the kind of person who just bought the middle priced thing without thinking much about it, but you're totally changing how I see that whole $200 bracket. The Craigslist route especially makes sense, you can get commercial grade for the same money as a new mid tier one. I never thought about it that way, but if a used commercial one lasts six months with no issues, that's a pretty good sign. I might have to keep an eye out for something like that next time my current one gives out.
