The worst week of my career started with a 2003 Civic quarter panel that fought me for three straight days.
Every trick in the book failed on that rust repair, and I'm starting to think the old-school guys who say 'just cut it all out and start fresh' on certain jobs are right, even if it costs the customer more. Has anyone else had a car that just would not cooperate no matter what you tried?

Been there with a 2000s Ford truck bed! I wasted a full day trying to save the original metal before I gave up. Cutting it all out and welding in a fresh patch panel was the only fix that actually worked. The extra time and cost were worth it for a repair that will last. Sometimes you just have to admit the old metal is too far gone.

A full day on a 2000s Ford bed... man, I can't believe you even tried. That sheet metal turns to tissue paper so fast, it's almost impressive. I would've looked at it for five minutes and grabbed the cut-off wheel.

Honestly, that Civic sheet metal is way tougher than the Ford stuff they're talking about. It's thin but it fights back with weird work-hardened spots from old damage. You just hit one of those nightmare jobs where replacement really is the only sane option.
