Walked past a detail shop in Tacoma and saw something that made me shake my head

Honestly, they had a brand new F-150 in the bay with the whole front end off, and they were spraying basecoat right over factory seam sealer without scuffing it. I stood there for a full five minutes watching. That paint is gonna peel in a year, maybe less. How does a shop with a storefront even let that happen? Anyone else seen a shop cut a corner that bad right out in the open?

Ever see a shop skip the plastic adhesion promoter on new bumpers? That's another classic. They'll just spray right over that smooth surface and wonder why it chips so easy. It's like they think paint is magic and will stick to anything.

That line about paint being magic and sticking to anything hits the nail on the head. I see this same shortcut mindset everywhere now. People skip the primer on walls, don't prep a surface before gluing it, or just slap a quick fix on something without doing the boring work first. It's all about rushing to the visible result and ignoring the hidden steps that make it last. The real skill is in the prep work nobody ever sees.
