That customer who argued my diagnosis for 20 minutes then paid triple at the dealer
Guy in a 2015 F-150 swore his rough idle was a bad fuel injector, I told him it was a cracked vacuum line and he left in a huff, then came back 3 days later with a $600 bill from the Ford dealer who confirmed exactly what I said - has anyone else dealt with customers who think they know better after watching one YouTube video?

That 2015 F-150 with the 3.5 EcoBoost has a specific failure mode with the vacuum line going to the brake booster check valve. I've seen three of those this year where the line cracks right at the rubber elbow where it connects to the intake manifold, but only when the engine gets hot. The guy probably watched a video about fuel injector cleaning and convinced himself it was that, but what gets me is how the dealer charged him $600 for a $12 part and maybe 30 minutes of labor. I mean, that's the real insult here. He could have saved the markup if he'd just listened, but sometimes people need to pay the "I told you so" tax at a shop rate of $150 an hour before they'll believe it.
