Spent 6 hours chasing a ghost in a King Air 200 avionics rack
Ngl, I was troubleshooting a bad audio panel that kept dropping the right comm. Turned out a ground screw was loose by about a quarter turn, but it took me that long because I pulled half the rack apart first. Has anyone else had a ground issue that made you feel like an idiot after?

Dude, yes. I had a similar thing on a 172 where the autopilot would just drop out randomly. Chased wires for like 4 hours, redid a whole connector, turns out it was just a loose ground on the audio panel too. Felt like such a dummy when I finally found it, especially after pulling half the panel apart first thing.

...and that's exactly how it always goes, isn't it? You spend all that time on the complicated stuff and the fix is always something stupid simple. Makes you wonder if we all just overthink things because we're trained to expect the worst case scenario first. It's like when your car won't start and you're checking the battery and alternator and it turns out you just left the dome light on. Or your phone won't charge and you're about to factory reset it but the cord was just half unplugged. We're all just looking for dragons in places where there's only mice, I swear.
