Just realized my suet feeder was a death trap for weeks
I had a cheap wire cage feeder hanging from my oak tree in Portland. Noticed a chickadee struggling to get out, its foot caught in the gap. I pulled it free, but the bird was clearly hurt. That's when I checked the whole thing and saw the wire mesh was bent, creating openings way too big. Anyone know a good brand for a safer, solid-sided suet feeder?

Ever notice how so much cheap stuff is just poorly designed? I mean, it's like they don't even test it for real use.

So true, @claire958, feels like planned obsolescence.

But is it really just poor design, or is making things break faster a key part of the business plan now? They save money by skipping quality tests, and we pay more by replacing things. It seems like a win for them either way.
