I finally tried a different mortar mix on a chimney repair in Toledo last week.

The homeowner wanted a specific color match, so I swapped out my usual Type N for a pre-blended lime-rich mix. After about three hours of laying, the stuff started setting way faster than I expected, almost like it was grabbing the brick too hard. I had to rush the last few courses and the joints aren't as clean as I like. Has anyone else run into this with a high-lime mortar, and what's your trick for keeping the workability up?

A game night in Portland showed me how to fix a common setup problem

I was at a friend's place in Portland last month for a big game night. We spent 45 minutes trying to teach everyone the rules to a new game before we could even start. The host, Mark, pulled out a small whiteboard and drew a simple turn order chart. He said 'visuals beat talking every time for new players.' Now I bring a small notebook to every game night and draw quick reference sheets. It cuts teaching time in half. What other tricks do people use to get games going faster?

Just realized my suet feeder was a death trap for weeks

I had a cheap wire cage feeder hanging from my oak tree in Portland. Noticed a chickadee struggling to get out, its foot caught in the gap. I pulled it free, but the bird was clearly hurt. That's when I checked the whole thing and saw the wire mesh was bent, creating openings way too big. Anyone know a good brand for a safer, solid-sided suet feeder?
