Three years ago I swore off sourdough starters, but a chat at the Vancouver farmers market changed my mind
I used to think keeping a starter alive was too much work and a waste of flour, then a lady named Barb told me she's had the same one for 15 years and just feeds it once a week in the fridge... now I'm on month two of my own and it's actually chill. Has anyone else gotten convinced to try something they hated just by talking to the right person?

Right, because who needs kneading when you have patience and a bucket?

A guy at the local baking shop talked me into trying no-knead bread last winter. I had this whole thing in my head about it being cheating or not real bread making, but he said just mix it in a bucket and let time do the work. Three batches later and I haven't bought a store loaf since. It's wild how one person can just break down that wall you built up in your head, you know?
