A barber in my shop said my fades looked 'stair-stepped' and he was right
I've been cutting for 9 years and always thought my fades were clean until Marcus watched me do a skin fade last Tuesday and said the blend looked stair-stepped on the sides. He told me I was holding my clippers at too steep an angle on the lever half-open passes, so the guards were leaving little ridges. Next day I dropped my angle way flatter, almost parallel to the head, and slowed my passes down to about half speed. The fade came out smoother than anything I'd done in a year and my client actually noticed. Any of you run into this with your shop guys pointing out something you didn't see?
Used to think slowing down was a rookie move, like speed meant skill or something. Marcus pointing out those ridges changed my whole view, now I go slow on purpose and my fades have never looked better lol
