Guy at the shop counter said something about clipper burn that stuck with me

Dude came in Tuesday complaining his old barber always left red marks on his neck and just called it razor burn, then I realized my apprentice does the same thing with zero pressure changes. How many of you actually adjust blade depth per client instead of running the same setting all day, or am I the only one checking that?

Man, that hits different... I used to do the same thing until this older guy pointed it out to me. Realized I was running a number one on everyone, even the dude with paper thin skin who comes in every three weeks. Switched to checking the scalp first, like actually looking at the skin before I even pick up the clippers, and it's night and day. Now I drop the depth down a notch or two for the sensitive folks and bump it back up for the guys with thicker hair. The red marks just stopped showing up, and my regulars actually mentioned they noticed the difference...
