I realized my neckline check was making clients tense up

A regular in my chair in Akron finally said 'you always push my head down so hard' after his cut last month. I was just trying to get a clean line, but I guess my hand pressure was way too aggressive. How do you guys check your work without making people uncomfortable?

Try using your pinky as a light guide instead of your whole hand, totally fixed my own "gorilla grip" problem.

My old guitar teacher used to say your pinky is the smartest finger. Ward.mason is onto something with that light guide trick, because it forces you to relax the rest of your hand. I still catch myself clenching up when I'm stressed, even off the fretboard.

My pinky is the dumbest one, it just hangs out like a confused hitchhiker. That light guide trick might finally give it a real job to do. My hand stress is so bad I probably clench my teeth to the rhythm.
