One old guy at my shop changed how I treat my blades

He told me to stop using my strop every single cut and just use it once a day, and after a week my edges lasted way longer, has anyone else tried that?

He's right but you should strop after every use not just once a day.

Yeah exactly, once a day is way too little if you actually want your edge to last. I strop before every shave and sometimes even mid-shave if I'm doing a full three pass thing. The difference between a fresh stropped blade and one that's been sitting for a day is night and day especially if you use a hard soap that clogs things up. Plus it only takes like 30 seconds so there's really no excuse not to do it. A good canvas and leather combo will really wake the edge back up between uses.
