PSA: I wasted $200 on a 'professional' clipper sharpening service

I brought in my old Wahl Seniors to a guy in Cleveland who claimed he's been sharpening clipper blades for 30 years. He charged me $200 for 5 blades and a set of trimmers, said they'd cut like new. First haircut I did with them, the left side was pulling like crazy and the blade was leaving burn lines on the guy's neck. I had to stop halfway through and switch to my backup. I ended up buying a cheap sharpening stone kit online for $25 and fixing them myself in about an hour. Has anyone else had a bad experience with a so-called pro sharpener eating your money?

30 years of experience" and bro still left burn lines on a neck. Sounds like he's been doing it wrong for three decades lol. $200 for that is wild, I got a whole new set of clippers for less than that. Glad you fixed em yourself with a cheap stone, those "pros" are usually just guys with a grinder and too much confidence.

The "30 years of experience" line really gets me... like, did he actually show you any proof of that before handing over the $200? Because after that kind of result I'm wondering if he just bought an old grinder at a garage sale and called himself a pro. Did you happen to look up his name or business online before bringing the blades in, or was it more of a word of mouth thing with no reviews? Just curious if there were any red flags you missed or if he was really smooth with the sales talk.
