My uncle swore cheap drill bits were fine. He was dead wrong.
I was at a garage sale last spring and my uncle told me to grab this 20 piece drill bit set for $3. Said they'd work just as good as the expensive ones. First hole I drilled into a stud, the tip snapped off. Second hole, the bit started smoking and bent. I ended up spending $18 on a proper set from Home Depot after that. Has anyone else had a relative give them tool advice that cost them more in the long run?

You said 'swore cheap drill bits were fine' - my buddy Tim took that same advice from his dad about a circular saw blade. Ended up with a kickback that nearly took off his thumb, had to get eight stitches at urgent care.
