Saw a new bike lane setup on 5th Avenue downtown...
They painted it bright green and put up plastic posts, but it ends right before a busy intersection. I watched three people almost get clipped by turning cars yesterday. Do you think these half-finished lanes are more dangerous than no lane at all?

The city planners must have run out of green paint and courage at the exact same moment. It's like they're training us for some messed up urban obstacle course where the final level is a semi truck. Those lanes don't end, they just surrender and leave you behind enemy lines.

Oh, the classic "bike lane to nowhere" design. It's like they're giving you a safe space to build up a false sense of security before throwing you into the thunderdome. Honestly, those plastic posts are just fancy decorations at that point.

My buddy was riding one of those lanes that just ends at a busy turn. The plastic posts stopped, the paint faded, and he was spit right out into merging traffic. He said it felt like the road designers just gave up halfway through. One second you're protected, the next you're fighting for your life with a delivery van. Those posts might as well be birthday candles for all the good they do.
