My mail route buddy swears he only watches 30 minute comedies now, says anything longer he bails by episode 3. Is the hour long drama dead or am I just old?

Your buddy is not alone on this one. Half the guys I know do the exact same thing, they queue up a 22 minute comedy because they can finish it in one sitting and feel like they actually did something. Hour long dramas are not dead but they are harder to start now with so many shows fighting for your time. My advice is to stop forcing yourself through stuff that does not grab you by episode 2, because if the hook is not there by then it probably never shows up. Try one prestige drama a week instead of binging, it turns into a nice little ritual instead of a chore. The shows that are worth it will still be worth it at one episode a week.
