PSA: Watching with 1.5x speed actually fixes my attention problem

I kept dropping shows about 3 episodes in because my mind would wander and I'd miss key plot points. So I tried bumping the playback speed on my laptop during a rewatch of a 12 episode drama, and it weirdly worked. The faster pace keeps my brain locked in, and subtitles help me catch everything. I know it sounds crazy for a binge, but has anyone else tried speed watching to actually finish a series?

Saw a video essay last week that mentioned how shows are paced for the old TV commercial breaks, which is why streaming feels so slow. Speed watching basically fixes that mismatch, you end up getting the same story without the dead air. Have you tried it with subtitles on, because that combo sounds like the real key here?
