Heard a customer call my forged bottle opener 'just a piece of metal'

Made me realize how much the skill behind shaping and tempering gets overlooked now. Anyone else feel like people don't see the work in simple forged items anymore?

It helps to explain the process in a simple way. I just say it's heated and hammered to make it stronger, not just cut out. That usually gets them to see the work in it.
