Can we talk about the apprentice who welded his glove to a beam?

Last Thursday on a job in Gary, Indiana, we had a first year apprentice named Jake. He was practicing welds on a support beam and somehow managed to tack his leather glove right to the metal. Took three of us and a cutoff wheel to free him, and his hand was shaking the whole time. Foreman just sighed and said, 'Well, that's 45 minutes of production gone.' Has anyone else had a rookie do something this dumb on site, or is Jake setting a new record?
