Just hit 500 flange welds with zero rework and I had to stop and think about that
I been keeping a little tally in my notebook for the last 18 months on this big refinery job near Baton Rouge. Last Friday I finished up a 14 inch schedule 80 flange and when I marked it down I realized it was number 500 with no cutouts or grindbacks. That surprised me cause I started out real rough on these jobs. I always check my bevel angle twice now and run my root pass a little hotter than I used to. Has anyone else kept a running count like that or am I just weird about my numbers?

Just means you weren't pushing hard enough.

Used to say the same thing. Then I actually watched my own footage and realized I was just being reckless, not fast.
