Spent a full shift chasing a leak on a new economizer weld
The foreman said it was a simple pinhole, but after six hours of grinding and re-welding the same spot, we found a hairline crack in the tube sheet two inches away. What's the longest you've spent on a problem that turned out to be in the wrong spot?

Oh man, I just read a story like this! Some guy spent a whole weekend fixing a "bad sensor" in his car, but the real issue was a loose wire under the seat. So frustrating!

Actually, that weekend wasn't wasted at all! Figuring out the sensor was fine is a huge step, and now he knows his car way better. That's a win in my book.
