That 30 dollar lens cleaning pen is now my favorite tool
I always thought those pens were a gimmick, figured a rag and some elbow grease did the job. Last month on a silica job near Baton Rouge, my sight glass was so hazed I nearly redid a whole weld. Grabbed one from the truck on a whim, 2 swipes and it was crystal clear. Anyone else found random small gear that ends up way more useful than the expensive stuff?
Those pens are legit. The carbon tip gets into the little scratches and pulls the oil film out instead of just smearing it around like a rag does. I keep one in my chest pocket now and a spare in the glove box. On a weld you can't redo, that 30 bucks pays for itself the first time you save a pass.
