Pro tip: Rotate who picks the debate questions each meeting
It stops one person from steering every chat their way. We saw way more people jump in once they had a stake in the topic.

Oh man, I totally get that worry. I used to think letting anyone pick questions would just make things messy and off track. But we tried it in my book club, and it was a game changer. Like, our quietest member picked questions about family in a story, and she talked more that night than in six months. It forces you to see things from a totally different angle, not just the usual loud voices.

What happens when the person who's supposed to pick forgets?

Last Tuesday, I forgot my own lunch at home and had to buy fast food instead. I'm such a pro at forgetting things that it's almost a talent! There was this one time I completely blanked on a dentist appointment and showed up a day late. So when someone forgets to pick something up, I'm the last person to judge. My friends joke that I need a personal assistant just to remember basic stuff.
