Appreciation post: That cheap PVA glue I swore would ruin my binding

I bought a $5 bottle of PVA from a craft store last year, fully expecting it to fail. But after 6 months and 4 books, the bindings are still holding tight and the spines flex perfectly. Has anyone else had a budget glue surprise them?

Oh man, I had the exact same thing happen with a dollar store brand! That cheap stuff actually outlasted some of my fancier glues, go figure.

Gotta disagree with you and @the_sarah on that one. Cheap PVA usually gets brittle after a few months in my experience, especially if you live anywhere with humidity changes.
