Binding a poetry collection taught me to love the slow parts

I just finished a handmade book for a friend's poems. The worst part was waiting for the paste to dry between each layer of the cover. It felt like forever, especially when I was excited to see it done. I learned that rushing it makes the paper warp, so now I set timers and walk away. This project made me appreciate how each step needs its own time. Has anyone else found peace in the waiting? I used to hate it, but now I see it as part of the craft.

Oh totally get that lol. I knit and blocking is the same deal, you soak the piece and then have to pin it out flat for like a full day to dry. It smells like wet wool and you just have to leave it alone. I used to check every hour like a weirdo, but now I put on a show and ignore it. That waiting time is when the stitches finally settle into place, it's boring but it's what makes it look pro in the end.

Disagree that waiting brings peace, I mean it always feels like wasted time to me. Having to stop during a project just ruins my focus and I get bored instead. Idk, maybe some people can chill, but I'd rather get things done fast.
