Finally bought a proper bone folder after using a plastic one for years
Spent about $25 on a Teflon bone folder and it made a huge difference on my leather covers. The creases are so much cleaner and sharper now. Anyone have a favorite tool that seemed small but changed your work?

But what if the old tool was teaching you something? I used a cheap plastic folder for ages and it forced me to work slower, to really feel the material and use my hands more. Getting a perfect crease became about skill, not just the tool. That fancy new one might do the work for you, but you lose that touch. Sometimes the struggle with basic gear builds better habits in the long run.

Honestly, that upgrade feeling is the best. I had the same thing happen with a basic utility knife versus a proper scalpel for paper cutting. The cheap blade would always drag and tear the grain, but the sharp, thin scalpel just glides through. It felt like I'd been working with mittens on before. Such a small change that completely fixed my frustration with clean edges.
