TIL my neighbor's 'help' with my tomato plants nearly killed them
He decided to 'feed' them with leftover coffee grounds, thinking it was a natural fertilizer, but the acidity shock made all the leaves curl up. I had to flush the soil with a ton of water and move them into the shade for a week to recover. Has anyone else had a well-meaning plant rescue go totally wrong?

Coffee grounds aren't that acidic after brewing, the PH levels drop a ton. Sounds more like your neighbor just dumped a whole pot of cold coffee right on the roots. @patkelly has a point though, people get wild with their "help." My buddy once tried to "prune" my basil and took off half the plant for no reason, it bounced back fine. Plants are tougher than we give them credit for.

Your neighbor just gave those tomatoes their first double espresso. Good intentions are the fast track to plant murder, honestly. At least you didn't find him pouring out old motor oil for "vitamins.
