Rant: I bought a cheap mortar mixer and it cost me a whole day's work

I got a no-name mixer for $200 last month thinking it would save me time on a small patio job. The motor burned out after mixing just three batches, and I had to stop everything to rent a proper one. That mistake put me a full day behind schedule and cost me about $400 in lost time and rental fees. Anyone have a solid brand for a small mixer that can actually handle a day's work?

My buddy's cheap mixer died mid-pour last summer.

That's the worst time for it to happen. Total nightmare scenario right there. Makes you wonder if paying a bit more upfront is worth it. Cheap tools always seem to fail at the worst possible moment. Just leaves you with a huge mess and a bigger bill later.

But sometimes the expensive one breaks too.
