Spent 45 minutes trying to make a cheap lentil soup taste less bland
Turns out you really need to cook the onions way longer than I thought, like until they're almost brown. What's your go-to trick for adding flavor without spending extra cash?

Yeah, onions are the real secret. I keep a little jar of better than bouillon in the fridge, a tiny spoonful of that in the water makes a huge difference. A splash of vinegar or lemon juice at the end wakes everything up too. Cheap old bay or smoked paprika can do a lot of heavy lifting.

Oh man, same! I used to just cook them until they were soft and called it good. Letting them go low and slow totally changed my cooking game.
