Doesn't it feel like every time you try to save money on a trip, some hidden fee or unexpected cost sneaks up on you? I booked a hostel in Paris last summer thinking I was getting a deal, then got hit with a city tax and a charge for using the kitchen. It's like the whole travel industry has figured out how to make the cheap option not actually that cheap anymore.

Wait, they charged you for using the KITCHEN? That's wild. I thought the whole point of a hostel was that you could save money by cooking your own noodles. What's next, a fee for breathing the air in the lobby?
