I thought the 'free walking tour' tip was a total scam until I tried it in Prague
I mean, I was super skeptical when a friend said to just show up at the Old Town Square at 10 AM. I figured it was some weird timeshare pitch or they'd just ask for money anyway. But the guide was this hilarious local student who spent three hours showing us hidden courtyards and telling stories you'd never get from a guidebook. At the end, they just said 'pay what you think it was worth' and I gave them about $10, which felt like a steal. Has anyone else had a surprisingly good experience with something that sounded too good to be true?

I found a great local guide through my hotel concierge in Chiang Mai.
