Lost $60 on a 'budget' hostel booking that wasn't budget at all

I booked a room through a discount site for a hostel in Lisbon that bragged about kitchen access and free breakfast. Got there and the kitchen was locked with a sign saying 'staff use only', and breakfast was just stale bread. Ended up spending another $30 on eating out for two days because I couldn't cook. Has anyone else fallen for a hostel that promised way more than it delivered?

Isn't it ALWAYS more than just thirty bucks though? Trust me, I've been here. That $30 is the tip of the iceberg for something that's been slowly driving you nuts for a while. The real value of this thing or whatever it is was probably a headache from the start. You gotta ask yourself if the peace of mind is worth more than that $30 to just be done with it.
