Spent $40 on a reusable water filter bottle for my Europe trip

I figured I'd save on buying plastic bottles at every train station, but the thing clogged up after 3 days in Rome with their tap water. The replacement filters set me back another $20 each, and I ended up just buying water anyway. Anyone else had bad luck with those filter bottles on city trips?

The filter probably works better if you actually want to drink tap water instead of fighting it.

Wait, you mean it's supposed to make it taste better on purpose? Mine fights me every single time. Is that why I'm getting that weird aftertaste?
