Hit $5,000 in my emergency fund on Friday and I just stared at the screen
Started this thing back in January 2023 with $40 a week. Auto transfer every Friday, never touched it. Checked my savings account after work on Friday and the balance said $5,012. I sat in my Honda in the Kroger parking lot for like ten minutes just looking at it. For folks who have done this longer than me, do you keep saving past your goal or move that money somewhere else?
$5,012 after barely a year of $40 a week is solid, but the ten minutes in the Kroger lot is the part I'd question. Money sitting in a savings account earning maybe 4% while you stare at it doesn't do anything for you.
