My uncle swore I was wasting money on name brand trash bags
He told me to buy the store brand ones from Aldi for $3.99 instead of the Glad ones at $8.49. I tried it and they actually hold up just as well with no rips or leaks. Has anyone else found a random product where the cheap version works better than the expensive one?

Yeah the whole name brand thing is a scam for most stuff honestly. I switched to store brand garbage bags years ago and never looked back. Same with dish soap and laundry detergent, the generic is usually just as good. Only thing I still buy name brand is paper towels because the cheap ones disintegrate when they get wet.

I totally used to be a NAME BRAND snob, I really did. I thought the cheap stuff was just asking for problems. Then my own aunt basically forced me to try the Walmart brand garbage bags during a visit and I was SO surprised they didn't rip or leak. It honestly changed my whole outlook because I felt like a fool for spending double for no reason. Now I buy the generic trash bags and dish soap almost every time. But I will say, I still splurge on the name brand paper towels because the cheap ones really do fall apart on me, just like you said.
