Ditched my color-coded perfection for a messy mini index

I used to spend 30 minutes each Sunday making this elaborate key with 7 colors and fancy boxes, but last month I just started scribbling page numbers in the corner as I go. Now I find stuff faster and actually use the dang thing every day. Anyone else tone down their system after a few months, or am I the only one who burned out on the pretty stuff?

Perfection is overrated when it comes to notes. If the seven color system worked for you, great, but most people give up on that stuff within a month anyway because life gets busy. The whole point of an index is to find things, not to make it look like a museum piece. Are people actually making art out of their notebooks these days? Because that feels like a hobby, not a system.
