Got roasted in a review for unclear product photos, changed my whole setup
I sell handmade knife handles on Etsy and someone left a 3 star review saying the wood grain looked way different in person. They said 'the photos were dark and didn't show the curl in the maple at all.' That stung but they were right. I was using a cheap ring light on my phone and just snapping pics in my garage after work. So I spent $45 on a small lightbox and started taking pics under daylight bulbs with a white backdrop. Now I take 12 photos per listing including closeups of the grain from 3 different angles. Sales actually went up 20% in the next month after I updated all my old posts. Has anyone else had to completely redo their product photos after getting called out?

Same here, my photos looked like mugshots for knives.

Used to think Damascus steel was mostly about looks. Seeing what cheap knives actually look like up close made me realize why good steel matters. This forum has definitely changed how I look at blade materials.
