Hot take: hitting 100 reviews didn't make me trust a seller more
I always thought more reviews meant safer buying but I hit a point around 50 reviews on a store where the 5 star ones started sounding exactly the same. Like copy pasted word for word almost. Then I found 12 reviews from accounts that only posted once. That made me question the whole system. Now I skip stores that have over 80 reviews in a short time because it feels forced. The 4 star reviews tell me more about real flaws anyway. Has anyone else noticed the 50 to 100 review range feeling weirdly fake?

Whoa, that reminds me of when I bought a pair of boots with 200 reviews and half of them talked about perfect fit even though the sizing was all over the place in the lower star ratings.

Oh man, that's the worst! I had a similar thing happen with a camping chair once. The five star reviews all said "super sturdy" but then the one and two star ones had photos of it bent in half after a weekend trip.
