Spent 3 hours trying to fix a buzzing amp before realizing it was just the cable

I was about to order new tubes and everything for my Fender Twin, but it turned out a $15 instrument cable had gone bad. Has anyone else wasted a ton of time chasing a simple fix like that?

About 15 years ago I spent an entire Saturday afternoon taking apart my old Peavey amp because the reverb stopped working. Cleaned every contact, checked every solder joint, the whole nine yards. Turned out it was just the RCA cable on the reverb tank had wiggled loose.

Dude, the RCA cable is ALWAYS the first thing to check on those old Peavey reverb tanks. I learned that the hard way with a '70s Fender Twin Reverb I picked up for cheap. Spent a whole evening poking around inside, almost replaced the entire tank unit, and then just pushed the cable back in and it worked perfectly. Now I always tell people to start with that connection and the little retaining clip that holds the RCA plug in place.
